Super Marios Bros. Evening Wear!

We’ve all the seen the plethora of awesome and adorable Super Mario themed clothing, but how about some fancy runway worth evening wear?

Craftster user montyfull designed these back in 2007 for her senior show for design school and Ive got to say Im quite impressed with the mix of chic silhouettes and the playfulness of the Mario theme.

A nintendo garter?! How hot is that?!

The Toads have never looked more stylish!

A mighty couture bob-omb dress.

A front shot of the magnificent Mario dress which features a handmade head applique which according to montyfull took over 80 hours of work! She calls it her opus….and rightfully so!

As an added bonus, she took a 1-up mushroom appliqué off one of the dresses and attached it to her graduation cap…certainly fitting ;)

On the thread on craftster where montyfull posted these awesome pictures, she had this to say…

“So I’m a fashion major. Graduated in 2007, and just NOW got around to uploading pics of my stuff! I’m an avid gamer for life. Shooters, RPGs, PC, nintendo, Xbox… I’ll play anything if I can afford it. I also don’t like to take myself too seriously, so I decided that my senior collection was going to be mario eveningwear. Ya know, lots of sequins, duchess satin, chiffon, coupled with the crazy icons we know and love.”

All I can say is you’d better sign up for Project Runway girl! Give us geeky fashion loving girls everywhere a hero to root for!

Birdo Cross-Stitch WTF

My good friend Jenn posted up an amazing find on her blog today.

Birdo Cross-Stitch WTF

First of all someone cross-stitched Birdo…thats weird enough as it is. Secondly, they put WTF on there which ads to the overall oddly awesomeness of this piece. Its also frighteningly well done, my grandma would be impressed.

Oh and Jenn wrote a haiku to go along with it…

Rosy dinosaur
Cannon-faced genderbender
Put a ring on it

Could today get any better? I think not!

Knitted King Boo hat

Was trolling through some knitting sites today and came across this awesome knitted beanie. Its a few years old but its new to me so I figure its new to some of you as well! Now bow down before the almighty…

King Boo

I always thought the Boos were some of the cutest characters in the Mario world so needless to say Im in love with this hat. It looks like its a standard beanie knit in a round using this pattern chart. This pattern was created by Kelly of Purl Friday and is simple yet cute. I think Id like to try it out but felt the hat after for extra fuzzy Booness.

Super Mario Felted Knit Bag

I guess Ive just got knitting on the brain today because I just stumbled across this…

Super Mario Felted Bag

This super cute bag is fairly basic as long as you have a good grasp of Intarsia and Fair-Isle knitting. The pattern is very well laid out and lets you know exactly what you need to do every step of the way. To make this bag yourself click here. This bag is perfect for toting around your Wii…or your DS and wallet and other things that live in a purse ;)

Im definitely adding this to my ever growing list of knitting projects.

Amazing handmade geek corsets

I usually don’t blog about clothing and fashion (even though thats my biggest passion next to domestic geekery) unless it has some sort of DIY domestic tie in. But I just cant not blog about these amazing handmade geek corsets for sale by one super talented seller on Etsy called The Vintage Doctor.

All the items are hand made from vintage fabric and fully boned, custom made for your order. The corsets cost around $130 and the dress retails at $175. Its a bit pricey for a corset, but I am seriously considering the Mario or Batman one because they are just beyond cute and geeky.
