R2D2 Beanie

First of all apologies for the lack of blogness last week…I was celebrating my 25th birthday so needless to say my brain stopped functioning halfway through the week. On to new celebrations though! If you didnt know, today is Star Wars Day (because its May 4th…may the force be with you…may the fourth be with you….get it? har har) so in honor of this I present a most awesome example in domestic geekery….

R2D2 Beanie

Crafty knitter Carissa knitted this adorable hat for her nephew and like all things good in this world, it blew up on the internet. Unfortunately she isnt taking custom orders…

” Okay, guys. That’s enough. I’m flattered. Really. But no more. Not for now at least. …. No more custom orders. I can’t knit the same hat over and over again for the rest of my life”

Well luckily for us she was so kind to share the pattern on her blog for FREE and in her own words said …

“I recommend you try to find a knitter near you or even learn to knit yourself. It’s a great hobby.”

Well, I know for sure Im adding this to my ever growing queue of awesome geeky themed knits!

Space Invaders ice cube trays

Ok so my friend Patrick Klepek just pointed me in the direction of the most awesome ice cube tray ever. Ok, I know I find a new awesome ice cube tray every other month but seriously this one is amazing.

Ice Invaders Ice Cube Tray

This one actually tops the Tetris Ice Cube tray in terms of awesomeness and geekyness. The tray is a durable silicon tray that allows you to make 4 different pixely aliens from the classic Taito game which is one of the most successful and beloved games of all time. At a mere $7.50 how can you not buy it?

Mmmm whiskey and pixels….a match made in heaven.

Internet Cross Stitch Sampler

If youve never heard of a sampler, it is basically a swatch of fabric embroidered to show a level of skill and difficulty. Samplers were once used to show a level of skill, obedience and virtue in women letting suitors know that they were suitable for marriage. Today samplers are made to….well be samples of your craft. Well some crafty internet gals have devised a sampler with a geeky Internet twist to it.

How cute is that? I love the icons and emoticon border, this certainly shows a high level of skill and nerdiness.

Mega Man Knit Hat

Apparently a very lucky geeky boy has a super awesome crafty gal who knit him up this awesome hat. Now she just needs to knit him some Mega Man arm warmers and leg warmers and hes all set to battle Dr Willy.

Bonus stage!
Crochet queen talli_1985 crocheted her own version! Equally awesome!
