Tetris kitchen

Ive written about Tetris home geekery before (here and here) but I think Ive finally found the ultimate in Tetris domestic goodness. Behold….

Tetris Kitchen

Maybe this has been posted around the net before so pardon me if this is a late pass..but its new to me! Besides, something this awesome needs reposting. Inspired by the classic shapes of Tetris and the need for efficient clean space, designer June He created this geometric masterpiece. The kitchen is basically transformed into a jewelry box in which all the pieces pull out into place and hide away so it looks like a sleek tile wall when not in use.

The tiles could also be changed color wise to reflect whatever scheme you would like. I for one and such a fan of this because living in an urban area like San Francisco, space becomes a luxury…yet at the same time I am unwilling to give up a large kitchen in order to obtain more living room space. This design allows for both kitchen space and open room all with an effortlessly cool and minimalist appeal. Unfortunately this design is still in prototype, but when I hit the lottery and built my dream flat, you can bet my kitchen will look like this.

Rock Band Ottoman

Earlier today my friend John Davison posted up a really cool link on his website What They Play for a Rock Band Ottoman and I am totally in love with this thing!

Its called the AK Rock Box Gaming and Storage Ottoman with Drum Lift and its the perfect way to store all your Rock Band goodies without cluttering up your living room. Living in San Francisco and being a gamer means I have tons of junk and little space. At this moment Cesar and I have a drum set bellow our bed along with 2 guitars and another two guitars and drum set out in the living room (I think we’ll be downsizing to only one set total soon). Id much rather store them in this sleek little box than have them shoved under a bed. Plus Im sure my cat would enjoy being able to hide under the bed again. The storage unit retails for about $183 on Amazon and comes with free shipping.

In Soviet Latvia, Design Makes You!

Living in San Francisco, Ive become accustomed to the fact that space is a luxury so organizing your apartment to maximize the space is key. Latvian designer Stanislav Katz who I partially love just for being Latvian, but mostly love for his incredibly stylish and practical designs. My favorite which is this amazing lounge bookshelf combo that would be just incredible in any SoMa loft.

Not much wider than a full Ikea Billy bookshelf, this painfully hip combo ozes with style. Bonus points for the hot pink and black color combo…its my weakness.

Bomb lamps…just let that sink in for a second. how awesome would it be to have a series of these hanging from your ceiling?! Pretty damn awesome thats for sure! Again, so painfully hip my belt turned white reading looking at them.

A clock inspired by a paper fan. Again so hip it hurts.

Ultra bonus points because the website’s tag is “In Soviet Latvia, Design Makes You!”

Get on with your bad Latvian self Stanislav!
